SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Angela Margherita Leotta was born in Catania on 28 December 1974.
In 1989, she moved with her family to Lombardy.
During her academic studies, under the guidance of Prof. Paolo Baratella and Laura Tonani, she approached the expressionist and gestural painting that feels akin to her personal style. From 2018, she reappears with more awareness in the context of a pictorial language that Leotta will call "Neo-figurative", in which expression and visionary elements tend to converge.

Angela Margherita Leotta è nata a Catania il 28 dicembre 1974.
Nel 1989 si trasferisce con la famiglia in Lombardia.
Durante gli studi accademici, sotto la guida del Prof. Paolo Baratella e Laura Tonani, si avvicina alla pittura espressionista e gestuale che sente affine al suo stile personale. Dal 2018 riappare con più consapevolezza nell'ambito di un linguaggio pittorico che Leotta chiamerà “Neofigurativo”, in cui espressione ed elementi visionari tendono a convergere.

STATEMENT OF ANGELA MARGHERITA LEOTTA
To create my paintings, I take my cue and inspiration mainly from materials scattered in my studio, from nature magazines and photo books of various kinds or from photograms I find on the Internet or from photos of works that at that given moment particularly inspire me, whole works or details of them that I then transfigure, by masters who have written the history of art... such as Goya, Daumier, Francis Bacon...
Through my pictorial language I narrate a universal existential theme: namely, of the mortal destiny that unites every human being.
This destiny can only be redeemed through the wager and risk, of a pictorial intent, unique, vital and beyond mere fact...
The imperfect and finite mortal destiny of every human being, can be redeemed only through a painting other and High, which opens to spiritual Transcendence and the ultimate Hope of human Salvation...
Even the theme of sports, which I touch at times, relates to a universal human theme: namely, the sharing of noble human values, such as Loyalty, Respect for oneself and others, friendship, cooperation, healthy competition, in which the body and mind cooperate in 'unison, striving to overcome one's human limits..., humility, precisely, of recognizing one's limits, seeking therefore, to overcome but above all to surpass oneself, to go beyond oneself, beyond mere sporting activity and transcend oneself as a Person...

DICHIARAZIONE DI ANGELA MARGHERITA LEOTTA
Per creare i miei quadri, prendo spunto e ispirazione soprattutto dai materiali sparsi nel mio studio, da riviste naturalistiche e libri fotografici di vario genere o da fotogrammi che trovo su Internet o da foto di opere che in quel dato momento mi ispirano particolarmente, opere intere o particolari di esse che poi trasfiguro, di Maestri che hanno scritto la storia dell’arte… come Goya, Daumier, Francis Bacon..
Attraverso il mio linguaggio pittorico narro di una tematica esistenziale universale: ossia, del destino mortale che accomuna ogni essere umano.
Questo destino può essere riscattato solo attraverso la scommessa e il rischio, di un intento pittorico, unico, vitale e che va oltre il mero dato di fatto…
Il destino mortale imperfetto e finito di ogni essere umano, può riscattarsi solo attraverso una pittura altra ed Alta, che si apre alla Trascendenza spirituale e alla Speranza ultima di Salvezza umana…
Anche il tema dello sport, che tocco a volte, si rifà ad una tematica umana universale: ossia, la condivisione dei valori umani nobili, quali la Lealtà, il Rispetto verso se stessi e verso gli altri, l’ amicizia, la cooperazione, la sana competizione, in cui il corpo e la mente collaborano all’ unisono, protesi a superare i propri limiti umani…, l’umiltà, appunto, di riconoscere i propri limiti, cercando quindi, di superare ma soprattutto di superarsi, di andare oltre se stessi, oltre la mera attività sportiva e trascendersi come Persona…
