STATEMENT OF ANGELA MARGHERITA LEOTTA

 

To create my paintings, I take cues and inspiration mainly from materials scattered in my studio, from nature magazines and photo books of various kinds or from stills I find on the Internet or from photos of works that at that given moment particularly inspire me, whole works or details of them that I then transfigure.

Through my pictorial language I narrate a universal existential theme: namely, of the mortal destiny that unites every human being.
This fate of a 'humanity, imperfect, fragile, finite, can only be redeemed by telling it in all its evidence, through the truth of a scandalously sincere painting, a painting that does not idealize, does not embellish.  
Only in this way, The mortal fate of humanity, of every fragment of humanity can be redeemed and remembered as heroic and worth living.

Even the theme of sports, which I touch at times, relates to a universal human theme: namely, the sharing of noble human values, such as Loyalty, Respect for oneself and others, friendship, cooperation, healthy competition, in which the body and mind cooperate in 'unison, striving to overcome one's human limits..., humility, precisely, of recognizing one's limits, seeking therefore, to overcome but above all to surpass oneself, to go beyond oneself, beyond mere sporting activity and transcend oneself as a Person...

DICHIARAZIONE ARTISTICA DI ANGELA MARGHERITA LEOTTA

 

Per creare i miei quadri, prendo spunto e ispirazione soprattutto dai materiali sparsi nel mio studio, da riviste naturalistiche e libri fotografici di vario genere o da fotogrammi che trovo su Internet o da foto di opere che in quel dato momento mi ispirano particolarmente, opere intere o particolari di esse che poi trasfiguro.

Attraverso il mio linguaggio pittorico narro di una tematica esistenziale universale: ossia, del destino mortale che accomuna ogni essere umano.
Questo destino di un' umanità, imperfetta, fragile, finita, può essere riscattato solo raccontandola in tutta la sua evidenza, attraverso la verità di una pittura scandalosamente sincera, una pittura che non idealizza, non abbellisce.
Solo così, Il destino mortale dell'umanità, di ogni frammento di umanità può essere riscattato e ricordato come eroico e degno di esser vissuto.

Anche il tema dello sport, che tocco a volte, si rifà ad una tematica umana universale: ossia, la condivisione dei valori umani nobili, quali la Lealtà, il Rispetto verso se stessi e verso gli altri, l’ amicizia, la cooperazione, la sana competizione, in cui il corpo e la mente collaborano all’ unisono, protesi a superare i propri limiti umani…, l’umiltà, appunto, di riconoscere i propri limiti, cercando quindi, di superare ma soprattutto di superarsi, di andare oltre se stessi, oltre la mera attività sportiva e trascendersi come Persona…
